Thus to improve the streamline of organization and to reduce an operative costs, and above all to strengthen the company's position in the market and gain competitive advantage. We have been cooperating with GS1, because we also care that the "language" used in the exchange of information between enterprises becomes readable and computer systems evolved together with the needs of the business - saysBartlomiej Wojtowicz, Product Manager, Comarch EDI.
GS1 is an international non-profit organization whose purpose is the development and implementation of standards for identification and communication in the supply chain. GS1 focuses, among others, on several areas: standardization of media data, such as barcodes (GS1 barcodes) or radio tags (radio frequency GS1 EPC) used eg. by retailers, manufacturers and suppliers, standardization of messages in electronic data interchange (GS1 eCom), data synchronization basic product (GS1 GDSN) as well as issues relating to the exchange of information about events based on RFID technology and the Internet. Developed standards and solutions implemented in the company contribute to lowering the cost of doing business, in particular operating costs in supply chains.
Comarch is one of the leaders on the Polish market regarding the implementation of the global GS1 standards in B2B communication. For several years, we have been promoting and implementing together solutions based on international standards GS1, that being the form of global language of business, facilitate and simplify the introduction of automatic communication between the companies in the supply chain. One of the significant joint success was to agree and implement standards for e-invoices. As a result, many companies from the FMCG quickly decided on a solution for electronic invoice. Currently, very few players are not yet using this solution. Other examples of joint activities is to promote and implement solutions of the type of Order-to Cash, consisting on a combination of electronic advising of physical delivery, labeled with logistics and pairing them with their processes of ordering, invoicing and payment. We already have the first documented implementation in Poland, which show great potential savings in logistics costs which can quickly run through solutions Order-to-Cash - says Elizabeth Hałas, CEO of GS1 Poland.
Additionally, GS1 supports IT solution providers to help them to adapt technology systems in their offer to handle international standards. After successfully passing the audit, companies receive a certificate, confirming the compliance of the product with the auditee GS1 standards. This mark is a guarantee that the product of the solutions provider meets all the requirements necessary to implement and use in accordance with global GS1 standards. This means that using such system can be easily integrated in the supply chain of a new partner and quickly attach it to his chain, without additional investment in hardware and software.
For example, our product Comarch EDI E-Invoicing has successfully passed an audit conducted by GS1 in Poland and France and obtained a certificate confirming its compliance with standards and local legislation -Bartlomiej Wojtowicz notes.
